Real men of education, credits to Napoleon Hill

"
An educated man is not, necessarily, one who has an abundance of general or specialized knowledge. An educated man is one who has so developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire anything he wants, or its equivalent, without violating the rights of others. –”

THERE are two kinds of knowledge. One is general, the other is specialized. General knowledge, no matter how great in quantity or variety it may be, is of but little use in the accumulation of money. The faculties of the great universities possess in the aggregate practically every form of general knowledge known to civilization. But I never hear about their professors being rich. They specialize on teaching knowledge, but they do not specialize on the organization, or the use of knowledge.

Many people make the mistake of assuming that, because Henry Ford had but little "schooling," he is not a man of "education." Those who make this mistake do not know Henry Ford, nor do they understand the real meaning of the word "educate." That word is derived from the Latin word "educo," meaning to educe, to draw out, to DEVELOP FROM WITHIN.

During the world war, a Chicago newspaper published certain editorials in which, among other statements, Henry Ford was called "an ignorant pacifist." Mr. Ford objected to the statements, and brought suit against the paper for libeling him. When the suit was tried in the Courts, the attorneys for the paper pleaded justification, and placed Mr. Ford, himself, on the witness stand, for the purpose of proving to the jury that he was ignorant. The attorneys asked Mr. Ford a great variety of questions, all of them intended to prove, by his own evidence, that, while he might possess considerable specialized knowledge pertaining to the manufacture of automobiles, he was, in the main, ignorant.
Mr. Ford was plied with such questions as the following:

"Who was Benedict Arnold?" and "How many soldiers did the British send over to America to put down the Rebellion of 1776?" In answer to the last question, Mr. Ford replied, "I do not know the exact number of soldiers the British sent over, but I have heard that it was a considerably larger number than ever went back." Finally, Mr. Ford became tired of this line of questioning, and in reply to a particularly offensive question, he leaned over, pointed his finger at the lawyer who had asked the question, and said, "If I should really WANT to answer the foolish question you have just asked, or any of the other questions you have been asking me, let me remind you that I have a row of electric push-buttons on my desk, and by pushing the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer ANY question I desire to ask concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts. Now, will you kindly tell me, WHY I should clutter up my mind with general knowledge, for the purpose of being able to answer questions, when I have men around me who can supply any knowledge I require?"

There certainly was good logic to that reply.

That answer floored the lawyer. Every person in the courtroom realized it was the answer, not of an ignorant man, but of a man of EDUCATION. Any man is educated who knows where to get knowledge when he needs it, and how to organize that knowledge into definite plans of action. Through the assistance of his "Master Mind" group, Henry Ford had at his command all the specialized knowledge he needed to enable him to become one of the wealthiest men in America. It was not essential that he have this knowledge in his own mind. Surely no person who has sufficient inclination and intelligence to read a book of this nature can possibly miss the significance of this illustration.

Please, every expensive college please look at this. what are you doing to charge someone with such huge amount of money? and continuosly downgrading other colleges and influence the students' choices! and insulting the lack of quality of public exams non-stop?

Please, I looked at your A level syllabus for chemistry, biology, maths, further maths and physics. Do you know how shallow your chemistry is? Big diagrams, big words, big spacing. like how students cheat in their projects. Your maths is exactly the same as form 5 add. maths.

Yet you are claiming you are more professional. Of course, it is cambridge a-level, of course; But YOU are Malaysia's Cambridge A-level. Have you look at the Singapore's a-level? the IB? and what are doing to charge such a huge amount of money? everyone who doesnt has that is going to have a bad future? So you are asking me to rake in such money for a pre-university education when I can get the equivalent as free?

Money-making machines, how are you even qualified to teach?

Don't stop believing

"
I like Glee, their covers of latest songs are amazing and sometimes to me they are better than the original. While Blaine and Kurt has my attention, I didn't really think much about Finn (Cory Monteith), not until his death at hotel. I can't help to escape from a certain degree of grief and sadness, that his "Don't stop believing" had cheered me up.
Somehow, he showed me that believing is not enough. I have got to work, work hard to get there. Still sometimes luck is involved, and again life is ever changing.

But I will not stop believing, in my dreams, in my life, in god.

Production drawing of studio ghibli (incourtesy of Buzzfeed)

They're not new, and you might have seen some of them before. That doesn't make them any less gorgeous.
My neighbour Totoro

I can't help but to fall in love with the woks of Studio Ghibli. The story lines are so touching, the characters so lovely and above all, amazing graphics

This scene torn my heart

"When you meet someone, you will never actually forgets them"

By the way the water colour is amazing. The blue of the first chihiro picture has a even tone to progress downward. Following one is a great combination of detailed drawing+water color. Do take note on the different tones of lights used. The pig and Chihiro one is the ability to maintain such tone in the drawing to create a smooth feeling. That demand a high level of water color skill, especially in controlling the amount of water used to not let it to solid nor too watery or light.

Studio Ghibli!! Their astonishing musics are another long one to talk about, feel free to find this music fanatic about it Sekiyo

Things I wish they taught me in school

 Parkinson’s Law.
a task will expand in time and seeming complexity depending on the time you set aside for it. For instance, if you say to yourself that you’ll come up with a solution within a week then the problem will seem to grow more difficult and you’ll spend more and more time trying to come up with a solution.
So focus your time on finding solutions. Then just give yourself an hour (instead of the whole day) or the day (instead of the whole week) to solve the problem. This will force your mind to focus on solutions and action.
Or you may wind up with a better result because you haven’t overcomplicated or overpolished things. This will help you to get things done faster, to improve your ability to focus and give you more free time where you can totally focus on what’s in front of you instead of having some looming task creating stress in the back of your mind.

There are opportunities in just about every experience.
In pretty much any experience there are always things that you can learn from it and things within the experience that can help you to grow. Negative experiences, mistakes and failure can sometimes be even better than a success because it teaches you something totally new, something that another success could never teach you.

How do write a friggin letter to apply for anything
Great, so during the long break after SPM and before STPM I went on the job hunt, hoping that it will give me unforgettable experience and something valuable to recall when I grow up. But things just don't go along, all hopes down in drains. Then I found out that I actually don't know how to write a proper letter to apply for anything. If studying are to ensure us a good career, you are doing it wrong by asking students to memorise a few inches thick books when they are actually really USELESS.

(seriously, who cares about people's blood veins? who cares about how microorganism lives? who cares about the rate of the volume of water in a cone after 2.15s? I need a job to get money to get water, that is all I know.)

Good results really is not equivalent to success
We have a lot of examples to prove that. Einstein. Andrew Carnegie. Napoleon hill. Henry ford. Search Google and you can find lots of it. Good result may show your diligence, but I can see from the success stories of others it is their attitude and ideas that really matters. (Well, hey, that doesnt mean I will be a lazy student)

How to talk
Books don't teach us how to communicate properly and makes friends and expand our social circle, and instead they teach us IMAGINARY NUMBERS. Isnt that everyone knows friends are important to help expand your opportunities in life? Hmm.

A Moments Indulgence

I ask for a moment's indulgence to sit by thy side. The works
that I have in hand I will finish afterwards.

Away from the sight of thy face my heart knows no rest nor respite,
and my work becomes an endless toil in a shoreless sea of toil.

Today the summer has come at my window with its sighs and murmurs; and
the bees are plying their minstrelsy at the court of the flowering grove.

Now it is time to sit quite, face to face with thee, and to sing
dedication of life in this silent and overflowing leisure.

Shingeki no kyojin (Attack on titans) - Jean

Well I really love shingeki no kyojin, for its storyline, the beautiful graphics of the anime, the characters, everything!!

I believe there are also a gazillion of titans fans out there, but there is this thing which everyone easily misses, and covered but the shine of other character.

So there is this man, Jean.

He isn't the strongest or the smartest. You can even say he is a bit selfish at the early stage, for his own survive, hence and therefore, he has what it takes to survive.

He has got into the top ten scorer, but he did not join the stationed corps, which is against his own will.
It is because he has something to fight for, even it means his own life, the freedom and the vengeance for the death of his friends in their first battle.

I would say I can totally understand what he is experiencing, not the best, not the top, but there is this one thing to fight for with his own life and well-being. He is not that talented; hence he must work the hardest, face the toughest challenges, fight the hard battles which may be easy for other genii. Did he turn back? No.

he is not the best, thus he can understand what other feel and can make the best decisions.

In episode 17, he questions Eren. He wants to know who he is fighting for and whether is it worth his life. That is so human! I do not want to put my life at stake blindly for someone who is not even my family! But if it is worth it, he will do anything to ensure the survival of Eren.

He dares to question. He dares to be selfish when situation demands and dares to die when it needs him to, dares to say what he wants. He loves his life. Because this is what it takes to survive on a land where other are so much more talented than him.

And he is handsome ( I have the eye of a beholder)

So, I am team Jean.

If only life is just like first seeing

Today is the Chinese Valentine day, so I shall not bother every reader with heavy and unhappy topics.

If only life is just like first seeing.  (direct translation from Na Lan Rong Ruo)A beautiful, beautiful favourite line of mine

In Han dynasty, there will be no Zhao He De and Zhao Fei Yan. There will only be Ban Jie Shu, and her love, the king, Han Cheng Di to live happily forever after. As beautiful and tempting Zhao Fei Yan was, the king's love towards Ban Jie Shu would only be as deep as ever and unchanging if only life is just like first seeing.

In Tang dynasty, there will be no Yang Gui Fei, or even Yang Yu Huan. She would continue her life as the prince's wife, and he would still live as the great and majestic pioneer king for Tang, admired and worshipped by the people.

Those who are estranged remain estranged. That everyone still like each other as they first met.

But what is so good about it?--you know, life is ever changing  and it is what makes it wondrous and surprising. It is like gullies of uncertainties lying beneath the serene surface of the water. You will never know what you will discover at the other side of the corner, and it is the curiousity which can kill a cat that lures you forward, isn't it?

What kind of sadness it is if  I know what is going to happen tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow? If everything is destined, what is the purpose of keep moving forward?

Let you make me wonder and astonished. Day and days passed and I unearthed more and more astounding surprise after the first meeting with many, if not all.

Still, I envy the simplicity of 'if life is just like first seeing' sometimes. Occasionally I am even more exhausted to have discovered what gruesome personalities of  human lies after the surface. Well, only sometimes.

Happy Chinese Valentine's day!

Smallest and biggest dream

"">

I am taught and educated and trained to have a mindset of success = study hard, get perfect scores, go to the best uni and then, work under a good pay and become rich. That is my target, yeah, and of course it must be! Any doubt or question raised against this definition of success will be classified as rebellion, disobedience, you name it."You must not think that way!" they said, "that is what a loser/failure will do!" Money is very very important, I totally agree, so it is listed as my top ambition to become wealthy.

But there is this sentiment I feel when I read the National Geographic or look up some random pictures on the net, that my heart somehow beats more rapidly. My fists grip in excitement and the river of blood starts to race down the veins. It is calling me; my spirit and soul belong to, in the wide green field of Mongol, in the mystery of Amazon rainforest! I just can't wait to run, down the hill, round the farmhouse, into the forest; can't wait to jump, into the river, up onto the bridge, high in the bluest of blue sky! I can't wait to tell you how many types of blues inside this sky you see and how amazing is the combination of the different shades of color , how precise is the amount of darkness to provide such solidity, but together with the most accurate amount of light and exposure to cause such enthrall! And to sing with the voices of the mountains, to paint with the colors of the wind!

All I want to do is wander. Take a bag and wear my best clothes, you know, girls are very particular about these, then, off I go with the wind! I want to go to Sahara desert(I really like the idea of San Mao to name her daughter after Sahara), the Niagara fall,  paddle the Pandi River in Papua New Guinea, hike at the Grand Canyon,  jump off the cliff, parachuting etc, the list is forever expanding and of course...fall in love with a handsome gentleman and wear a wedding  gown, well, honeymoon at Greece! And the Aegean Sea!!

You see, what is a life without all these things that you really love to do? Our life is so short and will end someday. There are many youths some even younger than me, have parted this world when they are around my age. This make me see how vulnerable life is.

So, I don't know what will happen afterwards, but my only, only dream is that, when I close my eyes for the one last time, I will have no regret for this life. No regret at all. and leave as signed in the contract of life.

I don't know those who have parted early, I only saw them in news or told by people, but I give you all my best wishes and prayers to you, I pray, pray that you will rest in peace, and in happiness. May the vibrant beauty of your life lives forever in us all.
